Bar in Cocori Shut Down; Immigration Detains Three Women

Local | By Correspondent December 5, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Inspection services closed a bar in Cocori on Tuesday after it was found to be operating without the required hospitality license. During the same operation, immigration authorities detained three Latin American women.

The multidisciplinary team inspected Riconcito El Divorcio, located at Cocori 4-3. The operation was carried out by the Economic Inspection Service (MEO) in cooperation with the Uniformed Services Team (UST), NCB/Interpol, Customs and Immigration.

According to officials, the bar owner was unable to present a valid hospitality permit and had not submitted any application for one. Inspectors therefore decided to shut the establishment down immediately.

Three women detained by Immigration

Immigration authorities detained three women — one each from Venezuela, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. All three were issued a reporting requirement while further checks are conducted.

The inspection focused on compliance with licensing regulations as well as possible indicators of human trafficking or human smuggling.

Authorities say similar operations will continue in the coming weeks to enforce legal standards and ensure safety within the hospitality sector.
