Benefit concert for the 'Leerorkest'

Local | By Correspondent May 21, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Next Thursday and Friday, a benefit concert will be given for the Leerorkest (teaching orchestra). This orchestra is an initiative that has its origins in the Netherlands.

It was founded in 2005 in the Bijlmer to offer underprivileged children free music lessons during school hours. In 2017 a Leerorkest was also produced at the Maria Auxiliadora in Santa Maria, the school where Tania Kross, ambassador of the Leerorkest, received education as a child. Children from the age of three receive music lessons on instruments from a symphony orchestra.

This year there is also a second school that was added to the foundation. With the benefit concert, Kross wants to generate money for her project.
