WILLEMSTAD - Remko Bicentini and the Curaçao Football Association will be in court next month. The dismissed success league coach will then challenge his resignation.
Two months ago, Bicentini had to learn via Teletext that Guus Hiddink had been appointed as national coach, despite the good performances of Curaçao. Under his leadership, final tournaments were reached that could usually only be followed on TV. More and more players who played abroad joined. Qualification for the World Cup in Qatar suddenly became a possibility from a fairy tale.
Hiddink was shocked by all the commotion and soon declared that he would take a step aside until everything was settled with the outgoing national coach. That is still not the case.
"I told the union that I did not want to stop at all, but was only told that the Bicentini era was over," Bicentini indicated. And now? 'I mainly have a lot of players on the line about how things should proceed now. It's a strange situation. A country without a coach. And it's not just about me, what happens to the staff? There will be summary proceedings on 12 November, then the judge will have to give a ruling.
