WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday afternoon at the beginning of the evening a sports cyclist was hit by a car on the Caracasbaaiweg. The man was seriously injured. Initial investigation shows that the driver of the car took a turn, while the cyclist collided with the car and fell. Ambulance personnel immediately started resuscitation of the victim upon arrival. A second ambulance was also called in. The paramedics eventually managed to stabilize the cyclist’s condition, who was then rushed to the hospital. There he was further treated.
Members of the cycling group with which the cyclist rode that evening, were left behind at the site of the accident on the Caracasbaaiweg. The fear was great among them. The scene of the collision was subsequently investigated by Forensys and the Ministry of Traffic, Transport, and Spatial Planning, among others.
