Bill proposal on disposable plastic will be presented this month

Local | By Correspondent August 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The draft law that should ban disposable plastic in Curaçao will go to parliament this month. This was announced by the Member of Parliament for the MAN party Giselle Mc William in the media. This bill must ensure that plastic and foam articles are banned in Curaçao.

Mc William introduced the bill three years ago, when she was Minister of Economic Development. The draft law had to be updated in 2021. The process was delayed due to various investigations that had to be done before the law can come into force.

The former minister is concerned about progress after the law is passed, as she is also still waiting for the publication of the animal welfare law that was passed in parliament in 2021.
