WILLEMSTAD – Brenton Balentien, widely recognized as the fully blue-painted superfan of Curaçao’s Blue-Wave, has become a symbol of passion and devotion after offering to sell his Kia in order to afford tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The story spread rapidly, and support poured in from all directions.

In an interview with Omroep West, Balentien revealed that shortly after he announced he was selling his car, Kia contacted him directly with unexpected news: the company wants to sponsor him as long as he keeps his car. The offer left the lifelong fan deeply moved.

Residents of Curaçao have also rallied behind him. A crowdfunding campaign launched to help Balentien travel to the United States has already raised around 4,000 guilders. Many supporters say they want to ensure he can fulfill his dream of cheering for Curaçao at the World Cup.

Balentien, long known as one of the most dedicated supporters of the national team, says he is overwhelmed by the generosity. He hopes that in a few months, he will be standing inside a World Cup stadium shouting for the blue-and-yellow squad.

Curaçao’s historic qualification has energized the island, and for its most colorful superfan, the dream of witnessing football history is suddenly within reach.
