WILLEMSTAD - During a regular patrol in the territorial waters of Curaçao, the Coast Guard spotted two fishing boats off Piskadera Bay last Monday evening. One was towing the other towards the island. A Metal Shark patrol that sailed nearby went to the boats to inspect them.
The officers found undocumented persons on one of the boats. As a result, both boats were directed to the coast guard jetty for further investigation. In the meantime, customs were informed by the Rescue and Coordination Center for their support. Upon arrival at the jetty, the boats were checked more intensively by the coast guard team and one customs team. They found a package of marijuana on one of the boats. The undocumented persons, the drugs and the crew of the suspect boat have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
