KRALENDIJK - Lieutenant Governor Rijna announced at the end of the afternoon yesterday that the island is back to zero active Covid-19 infections.

A total of 230 people have now been tested, of which 2 tested positive, both of which have now been completely recovered, and 228 people have been tested negative.

Currently, 96 people are still in quarantine, including the first group of returnees who can go home next Friday if everything goes well.

"It is a fact that Bonaire has been spared and that the corona virus has not spread on our island," said Rijna.

Hard Work

It should also be said that many people have worked hard to achieve this, both in the medical sector and in other sectors. The Lieutenant Governor indicated that the behavior of most citizens has also contributed to what has been achieved so far.

“People have behaved exemplary to the rules that have been imposed. It is not easy to live this way. But all people on Bonaire have made this sacrifice,” said Rijna.

The Island Governor said he hoped that the people on the island would continue to join forces to keep the island safe.
