"Bonaire becomes code yellow destination again"

Local | By Correspondent November 4, 2020

KRALENDIJK - Bonaire is again a code yellow destination. This is what Lieutenant-Governor Edison Rijna stated on Tuesday. On October 21, Bonaire had asked the Netherlands to replace the code orange with a code yellow because there was a decrease in the number of corona cases.

According to Rijna, the decision of the Netherlands took some time, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will change the code on Wednesday and Dutch tourists can also return to Bonaire.

Due to an increase in the number of corona infections, Bonaire had asked the Netherlands in mid-September to designate the island as a 'code orange' destination, so that only necessary travel was allowed.

The number of infections has now fallen sharply. On November 3 there was 1 active case of Covid-19 on Bonaire. 130 people have recovered and there are no hospital admissions.
