Bonaire: Only travel to Curaçao if necessary

Local | By Correspondent November 23, 2020

KRALENDIJK - The island government of Bonaire advises against traveling to Curaçao if that is not necessary. At the same time, the rules for travelers from Curaçao have been tightened. It is therefore no longer possible to travel back and forth from Bonaire to Curaçao one day without a PCR test.

Starting from Monday, all travelers from Curaçao who wish to travel to Bonaire must have a PCR test performed no later than 72 hours in advance. Those who cannot show a negative result will not be granted access to flights to Bonaire.

From now on, a health certificate must also be submitted digitally between 48 and 72 hours before departure. Paper statements are not accepted upon arrival on Bonaire. The reason for the measures is the rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 infections in Curaçao. There are currently 739 active cases.

Only six new cases have been added on Bonaire in the past two weeks. This mainly concerns residents of Bonaire. The source of the infections is known to the Public Health Department. These are directly or indirectly related to Curaçao.

The government of Aruba has also tightened the rules for travelers from Curaçao. They must show a negative PCR test with immediate effect.
