MUNICH - Liemarvin Bonevacia failed to win a medal at the European Athletics Championships in Munich on Wednesday. The Curaçaoan missed out on the bronze medal in the 400 meters by eight thousandth of a second.
In July, Bonevacia missed the final of the World Individual Championship. He finished sixth in his heat of the semifinals. The athlete did win a silver medal with the relay team in the 4x400 meters. The Dutch record was broken with a time of 3.09.90.
With 45.17, the athlete recorded his best time of the season on Wednesday, but Briton Alex Haydock-Wilson was 0.0008 seconds faster. Bonevacia finished fourth.
“I loved every moment of this final,” said Bonevacia. “I had a lot of setbacks this year, but this is the beauty of the sport. Come back stronger and enjoy what you do.”
