WILLEMSTAD - Since Wednesday, the prices for bread at Panaderia Isa have increased again by ten percent.
Baker Jean Fayad previously stated that a further price increase for bread is inevitable. The prices of the ingredients have risen sharply in recent times. "It was not an easy decision, but I can't keep my head above water otherwise," said the baker.
Fayad has chosen not to implement the increased production costs in one go. From Wednesday customers pay 3.60 guilders for a white bread at Panaderia Isa. There is no escaping the fact that prices will also rise at other bakeries.
The Isa baker expects that the production costs of bread will eventually normalize again, so that the selling price will also fall again.
