WILLEMSTAD - Behind the twelve buildings of Scuba Lodge in Pietermaai, a breakwater will be built to protect the buildings. There will also be a promenade.
The permit to build the breakwater was already granted two years ago. Now that the building permit for the new Art Hotel has also been received this week, the project can finally be realized.
The idea is that people can walk across the breakwater along the sea. The promenade will be made cozy with lights and benches and must be accessible free of charge to everyone, not just the visitors of Scuba Lodge.
To build the breakwater, Scuba Lodge is renting a strip of more than 1,400 square kilometers at sea for three guilders per square meter per year. It is not yet known when the project is expected to be completed.
