WILLEMSTAD - The cause of the many blackouts in recent months was a malfunctioning part of the security system. Aqualectra director Darick Jonis reports this. The system had been in use for five years, but the problems only came to light when the load pattern of the electricity network was shifted.
What exactly is wrong with the part is now being investigated in the laboratory of the supplier Schneider. Jonis says that Aqualectra has taken measures and assures that something similar cannot happen again in any case.
