Budget debate in parliament

Local | By Correspondent October 13, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The Parliament of Curaçao has been meeting since yesterday to discuss the draft budget for 2021 at a Central Committee.

Four days are allocated for the treatment. Member of Parliament for the party Kòrsou di Nos Tur, Meindert "Menki" Rojer, wondered yesterday whether it makes sense under the current circumstances to discuss the budget. Rojer states that Curaçao is currently suffering from a serious crisis. According to him, the island cannot pretend that everything is normal.

According to Rojer, the government has run out of money and currently does not know how to make payments after December of this year. Under those circumstances, the government cannot pretend that there are no problems, and the budget should be handled as if there is nothing going on.
