Budget deficit 2021 almost 700 million

Local | By Correspondent September 9, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao will receive almost 700 million guilders less next year than it wants to spend. This is stated in the draft budget for 2021.

It was presented to parliament yesterday at the opening of the new Parliament year. It is striking that despite Corona, the budget does not contain any expenditure on reform. It will therefore not be approved by the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT).

The Rhuggenaath government invokes Article 15 of the Financial Supervision Act. This states that deviations may be made in the event of an emergency. The Kingdom Council of Ministers in The Hague must approve this.
