Bullen Bay back in use for oil storage

Local | By Correspondent April 16, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The refinery does not yet have a new operator, but there is a temporary tenant for Bullen Bay. Mercuria Energy Trading SA has signed a contract on April 15 with Curaçao Refinery (RdK) for the storage of oil products at those facilities. This storage contract is part of RdK’s efforts to use Curaçao’s oil facilities to generate income.

Last Wednesday April 14, the first fully loaded tanker Largo Sun arrived at Bullen Bay to store oil and chemical products that belong to Mercuria Energy Trading SA. In the early hours of the night, the employees of the Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU) started to unload the tanker.

The Largo Sun sails under the flag of Liberia and has a capacity of almost 50,000 tons. The ship is 183 meters long and 32.2 meters wide.
