Local | By Correspondent January 12, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - A business owner was kidnapped Wednesday morning from his uniform store on Veerisweg. The incident unfolded before the eyes of customers and staff. Three masked and heavily armed men entered the store around half past ten, treated the owner roughly, and forced him into a red Kia Rio sedan. They drove away in the direction of the Helmin Magno Wiels Boulevard.

Immediately after the abduction, the police launched an extensive investigation. Officers quickly on the scene gathered witness statements and analyzed surveillance footage from the area. Attempts to establish telephone contact with the kidnapped man yielded no results.

Later in the day, it was revealed that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of 200,000 guilders for the release of the business owner. Although this information has not been officially confirmed by the police, several please close to the case assume that the ransom was paid.
