WILLEMSTAD – Alongside administrative and governance measures, the Council of Ministers has also approved two one-off financial support measures aimed at employees of subsidized institutions and recipients of social benefits.
The cabinet agreed to grant a one-time payment of Cg. 800 (gross) to staff members working at subsidized institutions across all ministries. To facilitate the payment, a budget amendment will be implemented in advance of formal approval by Parliament. The measure is intended as a temporary financial boost and follows similar payments made in previous years.
In a separate decision, the Council approved the formal documentation of the earlier decision to pay out the ‘Prima di Apresio’ at the beginning of January. Under this scheme, recipients of social assistance received Cg. 200, while beneficiaries of widows’ and orphans’ pensions received Cg. 400. A corresponding budget amendment will also be processed for this measure.
According to the government, both payments are part of broader efforts to provide targeted financial relief amid ongoing cost-of-living pressures, while ensuring that the necessary budgetary adjustments are formally embedded in the public finance framework.
The decisions of January 21 underline the cabinet’s dual focus on institutional management and short-term social support, as Curaçao continues to balance fiscal discipline with social policy priorities.
