Camelia-Römer: Government will not settle outstanding debt Sehos

Local | By Correspondent September 23, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The Sint Elisabeth Hospital (Sehos) cannot count on repayment of the outstanding debt of 91 million guilders. That says Health Minister Suzy Camelia-Römer in response to questions from the media.

According to a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2013, the debt, mainly to hospital suppliers, would be financed by the government, but the minister does not want to know anything about that agreement.

The provision in the MoU is, according to her, incorrect and there are enough legal arguments why the MoU should not be maintained.

The Sehos, through financial director Elvis Thode, said it was confident that the government would take over the outstanding debt.
