THE HAGUE - Residents of the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom who have been fully vaccinated can travel to and through Europe from 1 July with their paper vaccination certificate.
From mid-July, the vaccination certificate with a QR code can be uploaded in the app that the Member States of the European Union are jointly introducing. This is not necessary: the paper vaccination certificate remains valid even after the app has been introduced.
In a so-called legislative meeting today of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament with Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health, Jan Paternotte of the D66 party argued that residents of the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom should also be given access to the digital EU pass.
The minister promised to arrange this, although this will require the construction of a special portal because only few residents of the BES islands have a citizen service number. Without this, you will not have access to DigiD. Residents of Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten can upload their vaccination certificate in apps developed by the countries themselves. De Jonge will provide further information later this month.
