WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Finance announced that some cashiers at the Tax Department were dismissed. They were hired through an employment agency.
The ministry explains that temporary workers who are employed by the government through employment agencies Kadanz and Tempo cost the Ministry of Finance approximately 1.77 million guilders per year.
The Ministry outlines an illustration of the payment: Tax Inspectorate and Receiver: 1,218,678 guilders, which is taken from the budget of the Ministry of Finance for Kadanz and Tempo; Tax Inspectorate: 302,000 guilders from the Tempo budget; and the Receiver: 247,000 guilders from the budget for Kadanz.
“By stopping the use of employment agencies, the government will save about 1.77 million guilders. This amount can be used to hire civil servants," said the Ministry of Finance.
With the dismissal of several cashiers, it is no longer possible to pay with cash at the Tax Department from 1 October. Then only online banking or on-site debit card payment are among the payment options. When completing a tax return via the department's online portal, online payments can also be made. Online payments can be made by MCB, Orco Bank, Banco di Caribe, First Caribbean Bank, RBC Royal Bank and Vidanova Bank.
