WILLEMSTAD - Interim President of the Central Bank, Dr. José Jardim, advocates converting part of the Dutch financial aid into a donation.
He said this during the presentation of the Bank's annual report. A donation should possibly be linked to the fulfillment of certain conditions. Like the reforms proposed by the Dutch government.
The aid is still given in the form of a loan without interest, but must already be repaid in 2022. The question is whether this will succeed and will increase the debt burden of the monetary union of Curaçao and St. Maarten.
