WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Business Association is surprised that the Central Bureau of Statistics cannot produce inflation figures when requested. The organization says it is even unacceptable.
According to the business owners, those figures are important now, because of the inflation in the United States of 8.5 percent and in the Netherlands of 11 percent. Because Curaçao mainly imports from these two countries, inflation is also imported.
In addition, a government must make a socio-economic policy based on figures. For this reason, the Curaçao Business Association is urging the government to tackle this issue surrounding the production of inflation figures with the necessary urgency.
