Central Bank: Insurance brokers do not provide enough information

Local | By Correspondent July 26, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Many active insurance brokers in Curaçao and Sint Maarten do not comply with the obligation to report in a timely manner to the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The bank is the regulator for the insurance industry.

In total, 58 brokers are active in the two countries. In both Curaçao and Sint Maarten, the majority of insurance brokers provide little or no information. This is based on a newsletter from the Central Bank. In the newsletter, the Central Bank itself states, somewhat euphemistically, that there is 'still a lot of room for improvement in the reporting behavior of insurance brokers'.
