THE HAGUE - Henk Kamp resigned from his position at the Financial Supervision Board (CFT) at the same time as he accepted the position of minister. This is reported by the spokesperson for the CFT in Willemstad. On Friday, Kamp was sworn in by the king as outgoing defense minister.
The website of the CFT has since been updated. Kamp's name has disappeared. The Board is awaiting further steps from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The Ministry can appoint a (temporary) replacement or keep the vacancy open until a new cabinet takes office and Kamp can return to the CFT. The ministry did indicate that they will start the process of finding a replacement for Kamp.
As reported on Friday, MP Kadija Arib (PvdA party) has asked Prime Minister Rutte for clarification about Kamp's alleged dual function. The Financial Supervision Act stipulates that being a minister is incompatible with being a member of the CFT.
