Chamber of Commerce wants no Papiamento in high school

Local | By Correspondent May 28, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The Chamber of Commerce wants to abolish Papiamento as a compulsory subject in high school. The space that this creates on the class schedule can then be used for targeted education in world languages.

This is necessary to be able to compete better regionally and internationally. The island's economy has not grown in the last 30 years. Papiamento as an optional subject in secondary schools is not a problem according to the Chamber of Commerce.
