Local | By Correspondent July 10, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The car belonging to Arnold Dwarkasing, Chief Veterinary Officer, was engulfed in flames, with strong indications pointing to an act of arson. Dwarkasing has been facing intense scrutiny in recent times due to a controversial decision he made regarding two puppies imported from Santo Domingo. The decision to euthanize the animals has sparked significant criticism and triggered an ongoing investigation into his actions. As a result, Dwarkasing has been suspended from entering the workplace for a period of three months.

Expressing his condemnation of the malicious act, Prime Minister Pisas labeled the incident as reprehensible and despicable. He emphasized that such acts of violence have no place in society and called for a thorough investigation to identify those responsible.

In light of the attack, Dwarkasing's personal safety has become a top priority. Security personnel have been assigned to ensure his protection around the clock. This measure aims to safeguard his well-being and enable him to carry out his duties without fear or intimidation.

Furthermore, recognizing the potential risks faced by key personnel at Veterinary Affairs, additional security measures have been implemented. The second-in-command at the department has also received enhanced protection to guarantee their safety in these challenging circumstances.

The arson incident highlights the growing tension surrounding the controversy surrounding the euthanization decision. Public opinion remains divided, with some supporting Dwarkasing's actions and others vehemently opposing them. The ongoing investigation will provide valuable insights into the situation and help shed light on the motives behind the arson attack.
