CIBC FirstCaribbean continues good tradition of contributing to Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds in fight against cancer

WILLEMSTAD - CIBC FirstCaribbean continued the good tradition of contributing to the fight against cancer in Curaçao by donating proceedings from the Walk for the Cure this year to Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds.

The region’s largest cancer fundraiser, CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Walk for the Cure, celebrated 10 years this year.  The twist given to this year’s Walk for the Cure in Curaçao was that it took the form of a “Walking Dinner”, given the love for nice tasting food locally.

The Walking Dinner and other fundraising activities generated Nafl. 28,000.  All proceeds were donated to Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds for the valuable work they are doing in the fight against cancer in Curaçao.

“We are very pleased to contribute to the valuable work done by Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds this year again, despite the daring time we face,” said Timba Engelhardt, Country Head of CIBC FirstCaribbean in Curaçao.

“Knowing that Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds like other charities have been struggling as a result of reduced donations while at the same time recording an increased demand for their services, motivated us this year even more to ensure we were successful in our fundraising effort. We thank our sponsors and participants for dearly contributing to our Walking Dinner,” she added.

This year’s walk began as part of the celebrations to mark the bank’s 10th anniversary, and took place across its 16-member footprint. It has raised over USD$2.9 million over the past nine years.
