WILLEMSTAD - The mangroves at Jan Thiel have been cleaned by Curaçao Clean up (CCU) in collaboration with rescue organization Citro. This happened at the dive site 'Piedra di Sombre', between Caracasbaai and Jan Thielbaai.
The area is difficult to reach from land. “A lot of litter and dumped waste washes ashore,” according to CCU. With the cleaning campaign they have filled seventy bags with more than seven hundred kilos of garbage. Citro took the garbage with him.
This action was the conclusion of a two-week clean-up agenda. No fewer than 2,400 volunteers came to 95 locations in one day. The campaign cleared up 410,000 kilos of litter and dumped waste.
