WILLEMSTAD — The chairwoman of the Citizens Rescue Organisation of Curaçao (CITRO), Eunice Saleh, paid an official visit on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to the Governor of Curaçao, Mauritsz de Kort.

During the meeting, Saleh informed the Governor about the upcoming celebration of CITRO’s 50th anniversary and outlined plans for a major fundraising campaign to mark the milestone. CITRO, Curaçao’s maritime rescue organization, operates entirely with volunteers and plays a vital role in ensuring safety at sea around the island.

Saleh was accompanied by several members of CITRO’s board, including Lusette Verboom, board member for public relations and fundraising; Izzy Gerstenbluth, board member for medical affairs; Jovino Falbru, board member for operations; Gareth Weber, board member responsible for maintenance; and Sonia Moniz de Faria, treasurer.

According to CITRO, the anniversary year will not only celebrate five decades of volunteer-driven maritime rescue services, but will also focus on strengthening the organization’s capacity through fundraising and public engagement initiatives.

A photo released in connection with the visit shows the CITRO delegation together with Governor de Kort at the Governor’s Palace.
