CITRO saves fishermen at sea

WILLEMSTAD - Rescue organization CITRO rescued three fishermen on Friday. The threesome's boat had broken down and they were ten miles east of Klein Curaçao.  

 

The organization received the distress call at 11 a.m. At 12 noon, a rescue vessel with four volunteers set out to get the fishermen to safety. The boat was taken to tow and delivered safely to the harbor around 6 p.m.  

 

CITRO is a maritime rescue organization that helps people in need at sea. About forty volunteers are available for the actions at sea, consisting of skippers, crew members, paramedics and technicians. CITRO Medico doctors provide advice to ships via radio and coordinate medical evacuations if necessary. In addition, CITRO participates in prevention and information activities.
