WILLEMSTAD - An official of the Stichting Belasting Accountants Bureau (SBAB), or Tax Accountants Bureau was arrested last week by the National Investigation Team Curaçao. This is evident from a press release from the Public Prosecution Service (OM).
The man has been arrested on suspicion of bribery and violating professional secrecy. The official allegedly passed on classified information and sold it to someone who could benefit from it.
The man has made a statement that is now under investigation and is not currently in custody. At a later date, his case will be heard and he will have to answer for the actions of which he is suspected.
