Civil servants go to court

Local | By Correspondent November 10, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - There are currently two criminal cases in Curaçao on behalf of civil servants against the government. On the one hand, it concerns a civil case that relates to the failure to pay the indexation and the wage scale for this year.

The other case concerns the government's failure to pay the holiday allowance. According to the unions, the government is not fulfilling its obligation as an employer to the civil servants.

Wim van Lamoen has confirmed this to the media. Van Lamoen is a member of the Central Committee of Trade Unions. The trade unions and Minister Armin Konket of Administration, Planning and Services have met for months on the non-payment of the wage scale, indexation, and the holiday allowance.

But in the end unions and the government remained opposed to each other and the unions made the case to court.
