Civil servants tax department are worried

Local | By Correspondent September 5, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Tax office officials are deeply concerned about the effects of the fire from nearly two weeks ago.

According to board member of the ABVO union, Marlon Manuela, "the island has been paralyzed." Although the government previously stated that the consequences were better than expected and data were mostly intact, Manuela stated that much of the information that citizens needed was no longer available.

Sources indicated that the file with the back up cannot be opened. This is under the care of the government’s IT company Core.

Yesterday morning a meeting was organized by the ABVO where more than 200 concerned employees showed up and voiced their concern.
