Civil servants' unions agree to pay half holiday pay

Local | By Correspondent June 8, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Central Committee of Trade Unions (CCvV) has approved the payment of three percent holiday pay for civil servants, instead of the regular six percent. The unions just do not agree with the designation of this as 'holiday allowance'.

Last week, several union leaders indicated that they still stand by their position regarding the payment of the full six percent holiday pay. It is not yet known what name the benefit should be given. The intention is that the three percent must be paid before the end of June.

The reason for the three percent payment was the meeting of the Council of Ministers on 5 May, at which it was announced that the discount on employment conditions could be relaxed to three percent. From 2024, civil servants will again be eligible for the full six percent holiday allowance.
