CMC continues with mixed nursing

Local | By Press release March 2, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Mixed nursing in the care department of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) will be continued. The CMC reports this in a press release. Last year, a study was set up to investigate the possibilities of mixed nursing.

Mixed nursing means that men and women are in the same room in the ward with the required expertise.

In order to better serve patients and at the same time make better use of the bed capacity in the hospital, mixed nursing will continue. This prevents the relocation of patients and also ensures that as many patients as possible can be accommodated.

Patients were also asked for a response during the evaluation process, and the vast majority appeared to have no problem lying in one room with patients of the opposite sex.

When planning the patient's hospital stay, he / she is informed about the possibility of mixed nursing. CMC emphasizes that it ensures patient privacy in the communication process and in the rooms by making good use of curtains around the bed.
