CMC COVID unit’s personnel invited as special guests to the CIBC FirstCaribbean walking dinner 2021

Local | By Press release September 20, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - CIBC FirstCaribbean will host a delegation of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) COVID Units as special guests at the CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure 2021 Walking Dinner.

The invitation to the event is the bank’s way of honoring the COVID Unit’s personnel for their valuable work, dedication and sacrifice during the COVID -19 pandemic.

The CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure Walking Dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 starting at 6 pm, with four restaurants in the Rif Fort area participating in this annual fundraising event to assist with the care for cancer patients.

The region’s largest cancer fundraiser, CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Walk for the Cure, celebrates 10 years this year.  The twist given to this year’s Walk for the Cure in Curaçao is that it will take the form of a “Walking Dinner”, given the love for nice tasting food locally.  The participating restaurants for this year’s event will be Chanterelle Bistro, Gondola, Porto Restaurant Curaçao and Steak and Ribs Rif Fort.

The choice of a Walking Dinner better suits the prevailing public health scenario in Curaçao while still allowing participants to enjoy succulent dishes prepared by the best chefs.  All proceeds generated by the Walk for the Cure Dinner will be donated to Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds.

Timba Engelhardt, Country Head of CIBC FirstCaribbean in Curaçao said “Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds like other charities is struggling as a result of reduced donations while at the same time recording an increased demand for their services. Our team is diligently working to make this event a great success and we hope to welcome our participants to enjoy our Walking Dinner.  We thought it would be a great opportunity to show our appreciation and gratitude to our heroes working day and night at CMC doing their utmost to save lives.”

Tickets for the CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure Walking Dinner can be purchased at the CIBC FirstCaribbean branch at De Ruyterkade 61. For more information, please contact 433-8000 or marketing.curacao@cibcfcib.com

This year’s CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure began as part of the celebrations to mark the bank’s 10th anniversary of fundraising and takes place across its 16-member footprint. It has raised over USD$2.9 million over the past nine years.
