CMC gets a new MRI scan in November

Local | By Correspondent September 5, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) will receive a new MRI scan in November. Mike Rademaker, head of the medical-technical department of the hospital, announced this in parliament.

An MRI scan takes pictures of cross sections of the body. With the aid of the device, for example, the heart muscle can be properly visualized. The device works with strong electromagnetic radiation.

The MRI scan of the CMC has been broken for months. All patients requiring a scan are currently being referred to Advent Hospital.

The CMC would lose about 1.8 million guilders in income as a result of the device not functioning. Every month, about 200 to 300 patients were examined with the MRI scan.

The first patients are expected to be examined with MRI again in December in the CMC.
