Local | By Press release June 3, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) receives the first group of American doctors who were allowed to quarantine yesterday, after complying with the strict protocol 2 weeks set by the Health Department. With a warm welcome, this morning CMC received a team of 39 medical professionals who in the coming months will support CMC. The team's responsibility is to provide support in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak, allowing CMC to continue to provide regular care to the Curaçao community.

In the meantime, the American physicians will be introduced to CMC and the internal care processes. They will also, based on their expertise, provide support in the various nursing departments such as First Aid, Neonatal Intensive Care, Gynecology, and the majority can be deployed in the Intensive Care Unit. The group, consisting of specialists, paramedics and nurses, reports to the CMC from Monday to Friday.

As of this week, all 6 operating rooms are fully in use due to a stable weekly supply of OR materials, which means that CMC can continue to focus on lowering the waiting list for elective patients, thus guaranteeing high-quality regular care to the population.
