CMC tests anyone who has been in contact with the specialist who tested positive

Local | By Press release August 31, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has gone through the "contact tracing" process and in the meantime contact has been made with every patient and staff member who has had direct contact with the specialist who is infected with COVID-19. Currently, CMC is having everyone on the list tested. They are also advised by CMC to immediately go into quarantine. An exception when it comes to quarantine of staff members depends on to what extent the essential function can be performed under strict rules and according to the COVID-19 protocol.

Last Friday, the specialist diagnosed symptoms and decided to stay home. The same day the specialist was tested and the test result turned out positive. The CMC board activated and immediately implemented the measures in accordance with the protocol, in order to minimize risks to patients and staff.

CMC continues to tighten measures when it comes to patients and visitors to the hospital:

ALL PATIENTS who come to the hospital MUST WEAR A FACE MASK;

All consultation appointments that have already been scheduled will take place, however taking into account the applicable 'social-distancing' measures;

They must be present 30 minutes before the appointment, because they must take into account the new rules in force;

People with an appointment that can be done by telephone will receive a call from the Polyclinic the day before their appointment;

The entrances are only the west entrance (next to KFC) and the entrance via the parking garage;

In case of an emergency, you can use the north entrance (Hamelbergweg / Rodeweg);

There are strict controls at the entrance;

Visiting the sick is currently not permitted until further notice, with the exception of situations that are delicate in nature and approved by the specialist.

CMC again emphasizes that if you show COVID-19 related symptoms, do not come to the hospital, but call your doctor immediately. Should more information become available, CMC will communicate it through all of its channels.

We thank you for your understanding and trust during these difficult times.
