CMC wants to talk to union

Local | By Correspondent August 14, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The management of Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) understands that the trade union CBV has serious issues they want to talk about but does not support yesterday's actions.

The CMC board believes that these issues should be discussed at the conference table and not in the form of actions, as this causes unrest among patients. Currently, the total occupancy in the outpatient clinic is almost maximum and the occupancy in the clinic is between 70% and 75%.

During a press conference, the CMC board said it wanted to emphasize that the CMC stands for high-quality care and compliance with the standards and rules. According to the board, both parties do not differ on this. However, they do differ when it comes to the measures to be taken if they are not complied with, according to CMC.

The hospital board says it will adhere to the legal system and respect court rulings. With regard to a patient's complaint, there are 2 verdicts that are both accessible to the public. In connection with privacy, the management will not elaborate on this.

The highest priority of the CMC, under whatever circumstances remain at all times the well-being and privacy of the patients, who can count on a peaceful environment where all attention is focused on their recovery, through the necessary care and attention, according to CMC.
