WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao North Sea Jazz returns in 2023. At least, as long as Covid-19 doesn't stand in the way. This is according to initiator Gregory Elias said to the Aruban site Noticia Cla.
The popular music festival will then experience its tenth edition. The festival was last held in 2019. Then Juan Luis Guerra, Pitbull, Earth Wind & Fire, Mariah Carey, Gladys Knight, Maroon 5 and Nicky Jam performed.
The CNSJ was created by Fundashon Bon Intenshon to stimulate tourism in the low season. The festival was always held on the WTC site on the last weekend of August. The formula worked. Hotels and apartments were fully booked during the festival. The music festival also attracted a different type of tourist. Festival visitors from abroad usually spent more than regular tourists.
The organization of the CNSJ is in the hands of Mojo Concerts. This company from the Netherlands also hosts the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam. That festival will be held for the 45th time this year. Artists such as John legend, Herbie Hancock and Alicia Keys will perform in the period from 8 to 10 July.
