WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the coalition party MAN, Yaël Plet, wants to tackle the age discrimination that currently applies to minimum wages. The MAN faction in parliament has submitted a proposal to this effect.
Currently, a 20-year-old receives 90 percent of the minimum wage rate, 19 and 18-year-olds receive 85 and 75 percent. Young people aged 16 and 17 receive 65 percent. The MAN faction wants 100 percent minimum wage to be paid from 18 years of age.
According to its own words, the party relies on provisions of the international labor organization ILO.
