ORANJESTAD - The Aruba Coast Guard has launched an extensive search operation after finding a jet ski drifting five miles off the coast with no driver on board. The discovery was made Sunday afternoon following a report of a missing person at sea.

The missing individual is a 21-year-old foreign national living in Aruba, who departed on a jet ski from Fisherman’s Hut around 3:00 p.m. and never returned. When he failed to come back, authorities were alerted and an immediate search effort began.

A Royal Netherlands Navy helicopter successfully located the jet ski at sea, but the rider was nowhere to be found.

Search Operations Ongoing

The Coast Guard confirmed Sunday night that the search will continue into the following days, using both air and sea assets to scan the surrounding area.

“As soon as new information becomes available, we will provide an update,” the Coast Guard said.

The incident has raised concerns among local residents and visitors as maritime authorities intensify efforts to locate the missing man.
