WILLEMSTAD – In the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 30, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Caribbean Coast Guard detected a vessel near the coast of Curaçao in the area of Marie Pampoen.
The Coast Guard immediately coordinated with the Korps Politie Curaçao to provide assistance on land, while at the same time deploying a Metal Shark unit to conduct a closer inspection at sea.
The vessel was found to be a locally moored boat. Police officers encountered three local men in the vicinity who were determined to be connected to the vessel. After questioning, the individuals were allowed to continue on their way.
The vessel was subsequently transported to the Coast Guard’s support base, where a thorough inspection was carried out. As the investigation revealed no irregularities or violations, the case was formally closed.
The Coast Guard stated that the coordinated response forms part of routine maritime surveillance and coastal security efforts around Curaçao.
