Coast Guard’s search for missing men unsuccessful

Local | By Correspondent May 26, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Rescue and Coordination Center received an emergency report from the families of three missing fishermen on Monday, May 17, 2021. The fishermen had left with their boat White Fish, but did not return from the sea. After the request of the concerned family members of the fishermen, the Caribbean Coast Guard immediately coordinated a major search.

Based on all the information, the Coast Guard used the AW helicopter, the Dash plane and a Metal Shark to search for the men on the boat. Unfortunately, the large search of a few days has not yielded anything and the three men have not been found to date.

The search for the fishermen has since been handed over to the Colombian authorities because the boat was most likely drifted to the search and rescue area of this country. The Caribbean Coast Guard remains in close contact with the Colombian authorities and the families of the missing fishermen for news and information about the missing fishermen. The Coast Guard wishes the families of the missing fishermen a lot of strength.
