CORO, WILLEMSTAD - The coastal residents of Vela di Coro in Venezuela are fed up. The border with Curaçao must be reopened, so that trade with the islands can restart.
Yesterday, some 350 angry people demonstrated in front of the maritime authority's office in the small port town.
The borders between Venezuela and Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire have been closed since 2019, because Maduro wants to prevent smuggling. The residents of Vela di Coro say they are suffering enormously economically from their president's border boycott.
