WILLEMSTAD - The Coast Guard intercepted a local fishing boat with nine undocumented migrants during a regular patrol in Aruba on Thursday.
The officers decided to check the boat, called 'La Reina'. As they approached the boat, they saw two people on board. As the Coast Guard got closer, they discovered more people on board, trying to hide. The Coast Guards then decided to go aboard to check the boat.
During the check on the boat, the Coast Guard found a total of nine undocumented migrants with a Venezuelan nationality. They are three women, three men and three children. They were also in possession of a firearm and ammunition. They have been handed over to the Aruba Police Force and the Guarda nos Costa for further investigation.
