WILLEMSTAD - The Caribbean Coast Guard received a report on Friday that a man had ended up in the water near Shut, on the north coast of Curaçao. The sea off the north coast is known for rough waves and strong currents.
The Coast Guard Rescue and Coordination Center sent a Coast Guard helicopter to Shut after the report to get the man out of the water. When that was successful, the helicopter went to Hato, where an ambulance was ready to take him to the hospital.
The Police Corps was also present at Hato and will investigate the matter further.
